Geography Curriculum at Griffydam Primary School At Griffydam, our geography curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity and deepen pupils’ understanding of the world around them. Through a carefully sequenced programme of study, children explore a range of local, national, and global contexts, developing a secure knowledge of places, environments, and geographical processes.

Our curriculum builds progressively from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2, enabling pupils to develop core geographical skills such as map reading, fieldwork, and data interpretation. Topics are chosen to be engaging and relevant, including studies of the UK, contrasting countries, rivers and the water cycle, trade, and the impact of human activity on the environment.

We place a strong emphasis on critical thinking and environmental awareness, encouraging children to consider their role as global citizens. By fostering a sense of responsibility and respect for the planet, we prepare pupils to navigate and contribute positively to an ever-changing world.
