Curriculum Information

At Griffydam, our curriculum is built around four core values that guide everything we do:

· We are Explorers

· We are a Community

· We are Kind and Respectful

· We Reach for the Stars

Rooted in the National Curriculum, our learning journey is carefully designed to be relevant, inspiring, and fun, helping every child to grow into confident, capable individuals with a strong sense of who they are and how they can make a difference.

We are Explorers

We nurture curiosity and a love of learning by encouraging children to ask questions, investigate, and discover the world around them. Our curriculum sparks imagination through hands-on experiences, cross-curricular projects, and opportunities to explore both locally and beyond. Whether it’s a science experiment, a historical enquiry, or a woodland walk, learning is active and exciting.

We are a Community

We believe that learning is strongest when it’s shared. Our curriculum helps children understand their role in their school, local, and global communities. Through collaborative learning, cultural awareness, and real-world connections, we foster a sense of belonging and responsibility to others.

We are Kind and Respectful

Our curriculum is underpinned by values that build character. We teach and model kindness, empathy, and respect in all areas of school life. Children learn to celebrate differences, resolve conflicts peacefully, and care for themselves, others, and the world around them.

We Reach for the Stars

High expectations and big dreams are at the heart of our teaching. We challenge every child to do their best and develop resilience, creativity, and ambition. Our curriculum offers both support and stretch—empowering children to take risks, learn from mistakes, and be proud of what they achieve.

Through a well-rounded, values-driven education, we aim to create confident learners, thoughtful citizens, and future leaders.

At Griffydam, our intent is for all children to develop a lifelong love of learning through varied and rich learning opportunities and quality teaching which focuses upon building the strongest of foundations. We intend for all children to develop as resilient, independent and, above all, confident young people who have healthy attitudes. We understand that our children need to be nurtured as global citizens so that they can play a positive role in the Britain of the future
